Treatment & methods
Every treatment starts with a thorough examination and a clear diagnosis. Then we choose the method that fits your complaint. Where useful we combine several techniques for the best result.
Cox® Decompression Technique
The Cox® Decompression Technique is the treatment our practice has specialised in. It is a gentle, controlled form of flexion-distraction carried out on a special COX 8 treatment table.
The technique was developed by Dr John Cox and is evidence based: it has been studied scientifically. During treatment the space in the nerve canal is increased by roughly 28%, which reduces pressure on nerves and intervertebral discs.
That makes the method particularly suitable for people with a herniated disc, radiating pain, spinal stenosis or a bulging disc. The treatment is comfortable and matched to what your body can handle at that moment.
Particularly suitable for:

Our other treatment methods
Regular chiropractic adjustments
In a chiropractic adjustment we give a targeted, controlled impulse to a joint that moves poorly. The joint regains its normal freedom of movement and nerve function improves.
We match every correction to your complaint, your age and your body. No two treatments are the same: the approach follows from the examination and your diagnosis.
Thompson technique
The Thompson technique uses a special treatment table with sprung sections that give slightly during the correction. Less force is needed and the treatment feels gentler.
This method suits people who prefer a calm, comfortable approach.
Trigger point therapy
Trigger points are tender, hardened points in a muscle that can refer pain to other parts of the body. With targeted pressure we release these points, so the tension eases.
We often use trigger point therapy alongside the other treatment methods.
Heat and cold therapy
Heat helps relax tense muscles and improves circulation. Cold, on the other hand, calms inflammation and swelling in an acute phase.
We choose per situation what suits your complaint best, as support for the treatment.
Strengthening exercises
A treatment works best when you carry on with it at home. We give you exercises that strengthen the muscles around your back and joints and help prevent complaints in future.
For lower back complaints we have an exercise programme you can download and follow at your own pace.
